This Privacy Policy explains how Test My Tub (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use our mobile application. By using the app you agree to this policy.
Test strip photos. When you scan a strip, the photo you take or select is sent to our analysis service and on to our AI provider (Anthropic) solely to identify the pad colours and produce your readings. We do not keep the photo on our servers after the analysis is returned, and it is not used to train AI models.
Water readings & tub settings. Your readings (e.g. chlorine, pH, alkalinity), tub type, volume and test history are stored locally on your device. When you request treatment advice, the numeric readings and your tub details are sent to our AI provider to generate that advice. This information does not identify you personally.
Reminders. If you enable reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device using notifications. This requires your permission and can be turned off at any time in your device settings.
Purchases. Subscriptions and scan packs are processed by the store you installed the app from — Apple on iPhone and iPad, Google Play on Android. Payment is handled entirely by that store — we never see or store your card or payment details. We only receive confirmation of whether a purchase is active.
Camera & photo access. Camera and photo-library permissions are used only so you can capture or choose a test strip image. Images are used only for analysis.
Because your readings, history and settings live on your device, you can delete them at any time by clearing the app’s data or uninstalling the app. Photos are not retained on our servers once your analysis has been returned.
Test My Tub is intended for adults maintaining hot tubs, spas and pools. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Data sent for analysis is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
